NUE/Stress Tolerance

Metabolic Regulators

Technologies of Plant Sensory Systems

PSS currently has two technologies: the NUE/Stress Tolerance technology which increases nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and stress tolerance in plants, and the Metabolic Regulator technology which can target entire metabolic pathways to improve specific agricultural traits.

PSS’ NUE/Stress Tolerance technology increases crop yield. The three most pressing factors affecting yield and agricultural production costs are nitrogen-fertilizer use, crop losses due to drought, and crop losses due to increased temperature. The NUE/Stress Tolerance technology modifies a plant’s sensory system to optimize its response to environmental factors, including limited nitrogen and water availability, and exposure to high temperatures. Plants with PSS’ NUE/Stress Tolerance technology produce greater-than-normal yields without the standard application of nitrogen fertilizers. Less fertilizer use reduces farmer input costs, runoff pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Metabolic Regulators is a platform technology that has the power to control entire metabolic pathways. It is a single dominant gene making it readily transferable into any crop.

PSS is currently seeking strategic partnerships and/or joint research efforts with seed or agricultural biotech companies to move the NUE/Stress Tolerance and Metabolic Regulator technologies into crops.
