Duke Leahey, MA
Duke Leahey is President of Life Science Alliances, a consulting company that builds strategic alliances of science-based companies, negotiates licensing agreements, and performs intellectual property assessments and valuations. Mr. Leahey was formerly the Director of the Technology Alliances Team at Monsanto and the Director of Technology at Washington University. Mr. Leahey has successfully licensed technologies for over 30 pharmaceutical, agricultural and medical science start-up companies.
Peter Carlson, PhD
Peter Carlson received the Ph.D. in biology from Yale University and became The John Hannah Professor of Agriculture at Michigan State University. Dr. Carlson co-founded several biotechnology firms including Crop Genetic International, NOVASCREEN Biosciences Corporation and Phytologic Systems LLC and has had hands-on responsibility in bringing several EPA regulated agricultural products to the marketplace including Kleentek seedcane and several baculovirus bioinsecticides. Dr. Carlson was instrumental in obtaining both USDA and EPA approvals for the first multi-year environmental field tests of transgenic microorganisms designed to act as an insecticide.
Mich Hein, PhD
Mich Hein is the CEO and Co-Founder of Heliose, Inc. and Executive in Residence at the University of Chicago Technology Office. Dr. Hein has been involved in agribusiness for over 25 years, with expertise in agricultural biotech business development and strategy. He was formerly the CEO and President of two agricultural biotech start-up companies, Epicyte Pharmaceutical, Inc., and Chromatin, Inc.
